Our heritage began in 1888 when our founders sought to make financial security attainable for ordinary citizens. They achieved their goal by establishing The Western and Southern Life Insurance Company. The leaders who followed them expanded upon their vision. One measure of financial strength is industry ratings from widely regarded independent agencies. Western & Southern is one of the strongest life insurance groups in the world. We have received consistently strong ratings from major rating firms (see below). Since 1928, for example, we have maintained an A or higher financial strength rating from A.M. Best. The financial strength of our enterprise means we’ll be there when our customers need us — today, tomorrow and beyond.
